Future EVs from Ford - Transit Connect

Ford's Transit Connect offers a unique combination of driving dynamics, cargo capacity, accessibility and low operating cost. Now, it will also be available with battery electric poser to make it even more versatile. Commercial users travel predictable, short range routes with lots of stop and go in urban and suburban environments. This battery-electric version of Transit Connect can help them deliver goods and services in an environmentally friendly way. With a range of up to 80 miles on each charge, this capable and useful hauler will offer reduced operation and maintenance costs over the long haul. Because it's completely battery powered, this electrified Transit Connect will produce zero tailpipe emissions and operate without burning a single drop of gas.

The 2011 Transit Connect BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) is the initial offering in Ford's aggressive new vehicle electrification strategy. In the coming years this innovative electric van will be followed by a full ranger of electrified vehicles.

Transit Connect BEV is the first of a planned family of electric vehicles being developed by Ford. These photos and the description below was taken at the Ford display at the 2010 LA Auto  Show, Los Angeles, California. The Ford personnel declined to open the hood, so many of these ‘working parts’ were photographed from underneath.
