Battery Module Condition Test

Diagnosing an individual battery module or sense lead fault can be of critical importance. Because all the batteries in the battery pack are wired in series, one weak module can limit the energy output of the whole pack and cause a significant decrease in vehicle range.

When performing this test, any modules that shows .5 volt output lower than the rest of the pack is failing and will likely need to be replaced. In the Sample Record shown, all the modules are tightly grouped with module 10 the lowest, but only .1volts below the average for the pack.

If two adjoining modules are indicating incorrectly, the sense lead should be suspected and its resistance should be measured.

Battery Module Condition Test

Aging batteries is one of the most critical issues facing the Ranger EV owner today. Monitoring the condition of your traction battery will help you identify failing modules.

This procedure allows you to utilize the NGS Tester to test and record the condition of each module in your traction battery to determine their condition.
