Power Control Stations

These are popular PCS because they’re compact and can be carried around with you to be used in an emergency. This example is set up for portable use with a plug that can be connected to a standard electric cloths dryer outlet.

When it’s time for a “fill-up”, the Power Control Station (PCS) is your link to 220v A/C power to recharge your traction battery.

Not recommended for NiMH Ranger EVs because it lacks the ability to restart the charging process when the Ranger EV control system interrupts the charging process to prevent thermal runaway. While this PCS can be used successfully on PbA trucks, other units are preferred for NiMH.

The SCI PCS was supplied to Ranger EV dealers as part of their Ranger EV Service tools. Some have timers that allow for automated start of charging. These are the PCS units that are described and shown in the Ranger EV Student Guide training material and Workshop Manual.
